It’s official! After months of back and forth, our location has been set.
In the beginning, we knew we wanted our wedding “weekend” to be sort of a vacation, since neither of us get spend much time together outside of work, school and all the other craziness. The Texas hill country was a perfect spot for us to get away, but also be able to have some family and friends there with us.
We’re planning on getting together with much of our family come summer, when we have more time to spend with them.
After looking at a few venues, our specifications were solidified when Ciana exclaimed that she wanted to see us get married under a tree. The search then switched to affordable & beautiful locations, that INCLUDED a “wedding” tree!
Thanks to two of my fabulous professors at UTDallas, they pushed me in the direction of Becker Vineyards, a lovely winery in the Texas Hill Country.
For a few months, we were very undeceive on what we would do. I just didn’t see us having some big extravagant ceremony and reception, but after talking to friends, family and the staff at Becker, they assured us we can do something low-key but special.
I was in Houston one weekend visiting my parents, with Ciana in tow. Since David had a show, he was 30 miles south and unable to be at the house with us until the next day. Between my Dad’s sudden interest in all things wedding, as well as Ciana’s gorgeous artwork depicting our nuptials, it was time to make it official.
Since I had been talking back and forth with the wonderful ladies at Becker Vineyards, my call was not a surprise to them, as they already had me penciled in the books! The validation was overwhelming, so my mom and I immediately celebrated with a glass of wine.
We’re lucky to have our ceremony and reception held at the same place, which should make for a nice time with our guests.
